Investigation on microstructures and properties of semi-solid Al80Mg5Li5Zn5Cu5 light-weight high-entropy alloy during isothermal heat treatment process

The Al80Mg5Li5Zn5Cu5 light-weight high-entropy alloy with globular microstructure was fabricated by isothermal heat treatment. effects of temperatures and holding times on the semi-solid evolution were investigated. results indicate that, increase temperature, average grain size increases spheroidization time shortens. With prolongation time, shape factor firstly then decreases, decreases at first when temperature is below 520 °C, however it gradually 540 °C. optimal obtained °C for 30 min, whose are 0.90 56.4 µm, respectively. Compared as-cast alloy, compressive strength plasticity increased 36% 108%, formation microstructures includes three stages: melting separation, spheroidization, coarsening growth. sluggish diffusion effect leads to a low rate, resulting in slow
